OUR SERVICES

Consultation:

Consultation

Initial Consultation for Schools/Institutions (Free)

For educational settings we have not previously worked with, we provide a free initial consultation as part of our cost-effective service. Each session may last up to 60 minutes and can be offered as a one-off separate session with no obligation to commit to the specific services. Specific services needed by schools/institutions may be discussed to provide an accurate quote for our psychological input.

Initial Consultation ($100 per hour)

Most of our services require an initial consultation. Through an initial consultation, we aim to explore concerns, answer questions and determine whether further assessment is needed. This is an opportunity for you to ask questions and speak to the Educational Psychologist about your concerns and expectations. The session may be carried out as an interview with parents and/or students. Questionnaires may be used as part of the process.

Each session may last up to 60 minutes and can be offered as a one-off separate session with no obligations to commit to a full assessment.

During the initial consultation, we will agree the shared expectations of our involvement and we would be able to provide costings for any recommendations.

Documents to bring during the initial consultation

We suggest you provide as much information as possible on the referral form and the information is gathered and shared beforehand. This includes samples of school work, teachers’ and specialist reports, individual education plans.

What happens after the initial consultation?

Following the initial consultation, appropriate recommendations will be provided to parents.

Recommendations may include:

  • An assessment to identify needs

  • An intervention

  • Putting strategies into actions

  • Individual consultations

  • Meetings/ Reviews

  • Training

  • Multi-disciplinary involvement of other professionals/specialists

  • Signposting to other services/agencies

  • No further input is required

Debrief Consultation ($150 per hour)

A debrief consultation is offered 8-10 weeks following an initial consultation and assessment. This is a joint problem-solving session between all parties concerned about ways to move forward. This may include plans for further assessments and/or referrals to other agencies and services. A debrief consultation may involve one of the following agendas:

  • Discussion of results from educational testings/screeenings or assessments

  • School planning (placement and/or transition)

  • Planning an Individual Education Plan (IEP): Initial draft or review

Assessment

Assessment

It can be challenging for parents, teachers and even students themselves to identify the reasons behind an issue or to understand how to make a change for the better. Following an initial consultation, an individual observation and/or assessment may be required when it is unclear why there are needs or when there are unanswered questions about certain areas of a student’s development. A comprehensive psychological assessment can help to determine needs and answer these questions.

At In Mind Psychology, we use a range of standardised and non-standardised assessment tools, questionnaires and interviews to gather information about the student and their life circumstances.

Transition Services

Transition Services

We provide a range of transition services and specialist input for students who are starting or moving schools, entering secondary schools, colleges or universities, starting work, or moving houses. Our transition services look at each individual student to identify needs and concerns. We provide both preventative and reactive transition services which include various assessments. Assessments are a good way to understand each student’s individual needs during this change in their daily life, how they cope with this change and what can be done to support them.
